Actually, I am not a writer. Except for a film script I wrote in 2003 for which some one else took credit and a few love letters to impress my girlfriends and later on my wife with my magical poetic abilities, I have not written anything. In fact, I was the worst in my composition class!
Having said that, it was the end of spring ‘06 when I was totally depressed and crushed because of all the horrible things that happened to me on my mother’s planet mostly due to the direct effects of the Mafia of Iranian Cinema (which still continues). I was so utterly depressed that I knew which door I should open in my sprit’s home to become a mad man. It was then when I received an email from a friend back home. The contents of the email was this:
“Dear Hamid, how are you?
Your friend, Saeed”
Very profound question!
I answered back:
“Dear Saeed, I have totally lost Myself. But I am sure I will find Myself somewhere in the closet of my soul, in the middle of the chaos which my mind has created. I am sure of it. But for now I have to keep looking.
Take care and say hi to everyone who used to say hi to me.

The day after, in the height of my depression/anxiety/madness I was going to delete my old emails when an idea hit me very heavily on the head enclosed in the answer I sent to my friend on the other side of the planet. I decided to expand my answer. The result has become a book which is going to be published at the end of 2009 here on this new planet.
While writing the book, I realized that there is no art form like writing. There’s no crew or camera or distributor/sales agent or big financial responsibilities, or hard drives that are constantly failing or computer programs that are constantly crashing. Writing is nothing but a pen and some paper and of course – me.
The name of the book is: Multiverse: The Diary of an Immigrant
The book starts like this:
If you add The Master and Margarita to The Little Prince and divide its outcome by Sophie’s World, then you’ll have Multiverse.
All the stories in this book are true. All the dreams in this story are also true. This book is true too
So stay tune for the lunge date. |
